So this weekend is going to be a big deal for me. I live up in Wausau, WI and we’re having Evercon this weekend. I’m running a panel/presentation on DMing for Newbies in the morning and running a Dungeon World game in the evening. The DMing panel is mostly aimed at giving people who have never DMed before some pointers and the confidence that they can do it. I’m honestly surprised by the number of people I know that are terrified of running a game. I never had a problem with public speaking so the idea of being in front of a bunch of people rambling about a fantastical story of elves, dwarves, and orcs never bothered me. I’m hoping that this will open up a few more people to the idea of running games. We’ll see.
If you’d like to see the presentation I’m running here is the power point.
As for the Dungeon World game the only thing I have planned is I will be using the core classes and a few leading questions:
What were you flying on right before it crashed?
What dangerous landscape did you crash in?
What caused the crash?
Who else survived the crash?
What sound do you hear that has you worried?
And from there I’ll run a 4 hour session and see what happens. This is all going to happen on Saturday so hopefully I’ll be able to let you know how it went on Monday. Thanks for reading.
